Toman Appointed Interim Director of the School of Environment and Natural Resources

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Eric Toman as the Interim Director of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) effective August 15th, 2022. Dr. Toman earned his B.S. in Environmental Studies at Utah State University in 1999, his M.S. in Forest Resources from Oregon State University in 2002, and his Ph.D. in Forest Resources from Oregon State University in 2005.

Dr. Toman is currently a professor, associate director, and education abroad coordinator in the School of Environment and Natural Resources where he joined the faculty in 2008. He has also served as Director of the Lake States Fire Science Consortium since 2017 where he oversees efforts to connect scientists and managers working on wildland fire issues to identify information needs and facilitate knowledge exchange in several Midwest states. Prior to his experience at The Ohio State University, Dr. Toman completed a fellowship with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Oregon State University. Dr. Toman’s research is focused on using interdisciplinary methods to examine the factors that influence the adoption of behaviors that enable adaptation to changing environmental conditions and to develop a better understanding of the social dimensions of coupled human and natural systems.
