Christy Appointed Interim Associate Dean and Director for Academic Programs
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ann Christy as Interim Associate Dean and Director for Academic Programs in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) at The Ohio State University (OSU) effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 or until a new Associate Dean is named. Dr. Christy earned her B.S. in Agricultural Engineering and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University and her Ph.D. in Environmental Systems Engineering from Clemson University.
Dr. Christy is currently a professor of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering and a professor of Engineering Education. Prior to becoming a faculty member, she worked for an environmental engineering firm in New Jersey for several years. Dr. Christy has won multiple teaching awards at the college, university, and national levels including the USDA National Award for Excellence in College and University Teaching in the Food and Agricultural Sciences. Her research is in bioenergy, the environment, and engineering education, generating over 145 publications so far.
As Interim Associate Dean and Director for Academic Programs, Dr. Christy will:

Provide oversight and direction for undergraduate student recruitment and placement within CFAES with an emphasis on increasing the number of students from underrepresented groups.

Collaborate with the CFAES Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure an inclusive and equitable learning environment for students.

Establish academic goals for the college and develop metrics for monitoring these goals.

Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and the Assistant Dean and Director of the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute, to ensure seamless integration of academic programs, policies, and procedures and ensure the availability of undergraduate research opportunities.

Collaborate with the Associate Dean and Director of OSU Extension to identify experiential learning opportunities for students in Ohio communities and to develop credit and non-credit professional and continuing education offerings.

Lead professional development of faculty and staff involved in academic programs to focus on the improvement of teaching, development of curricula, assessment of student performance, and pursuing scholarship within their field of expertise.
