WOOSTER, OH – Dr. Kristina Boone, Assistant Dean and Director of the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI) in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) has been reappointed for a second four-year term April 1, 2021 through June 30, 2025, pending Board of Trustees approval. Dr. Boone received her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Communication from Texas Tech in 1991, her M.S. in Agricultural Communication from The Ohio State University in 1991, and her Ph.D. in Extension Education, from The Ohio State University in 1994.
After earning her Ph.D., Kris worked as an Ohio State Extension Agent in Water Quality before joining the faculty at Kansas State University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education in 1995. Dr. Boone continued her career at K-State becoming an Associate Professor in 2000, Interim Head in 2002, a Professor in 2005, and Department Head of the Department of Communications and Agricultural Education in October 2005. Kris joined Ohio State as Assistant Dean and Director of ATI in April 2017. As Assistant Dean and Director of ATI, Dr. Boone leads over 500 students, as well as 80 faculty and staff.
Under Dr. Boone’s leadership, ATI has expanded MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences) to the CFAES Wooster campus, designed the first Celebration of First-Generation College Student Success, established efficiencies in curricular offerings, helped lead the CFAES Wooster campus strategic plan and facilities improvements, worked with advancement on continued and new strategic partnerships, and worked to raise the profile of ATI.
During her next term, Dr. Boone will be focusing on two broad areas. First, she will work with her faculty in developing innovative programming and enrollment strategies for ATI. She will also spend time focusing on faculty and staff development initiatives.
